The Corridor 360º programme, a part of the European mobility agenda under the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, will delve into the opportunities of the multimodal Atlantic and Mediterranean corridors.
Madrid, 23 October 2023 – Key representatives from various European and Spanish public institutions, along with senior executives from mobility and infrastructure sectors, will convene at the Global Mobility Call on October 26. They will discuss strategies to expedite the development of the Atlantic and Mediterranean railway corridors and highlight the economic and social advantages they bring to Europe.
Organized by the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and under the aegis of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda of the Spanish Government, the Corridor 360°: Atlantic and Mediterranean event will see participation from European institutions, the Spanish central administration, and several important companies.
The conference aims to present these corridors not just as infrastructure projects, but as pivotal tools enhancing the lives and economies of their regions through transportation services for passengers and goods. The corridors will be explored from four facets, encapsulating a holistic view of these large-scale projects and their significance to the services within their geographical areas.
High-Level Institutional and Industry Participation
On Thursday, October 26, at 9:30 a.m. in the Main Auditorium or Main Stage of the Global Mobility Call at Pavilion 14 of the IFEMA MADRID Exhibition Center, the Secretary of State for Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda, David Lucas, will inaugurate the conference.
From 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., the plenary session will feature presentations from Iveta Radičová, EU coordinator for the Mediterranean Corridor, and Josep-Vicent Boira, Government Commissioner for the Mediterranean Corridor. Additionally, Carlo Secchi, EU coordinator for the Atlantic Corridor, and José Antonio Sebastián, Government Commissioner for the Atlantic Corridor, will share their insights.
At 11:00 a.m., the Agora Connect will host a round table on Infrastructure for the Corridors. Participants will include Álvaro Rodríguez Dapena, President of Puertos del Estado; Abel López, Director of Import, Export, and Transport of the Inditex Group; among others. Enric Juliana from La Vanguardia will moderate.
At 12:00 noon, a second round table will take place in the Agora Connect focusing on New Rolling Stock for Passengers and Freight. Notable speakers will include Leopoldo Maeztu, CEO of Alstom, and Iñigo Parra, World Vice President of the Stadler Group, among others. Mario Alejandre from Cadena SER will moderate.
The Perspective Forum, at 1:00 p.m., will hold a round table discussion on EU Financing and Community Aid, with participants like Carlo Secchi, EU coordinator for the Atlantic Corridor, and Xavier Flores, Secretary General for Infrastructures. Ramón Muñiz from El Comercio will guide the conversation.
At 1:45 p.m., the fourth round table, titled "Debate on Service Models in European Corridors," will take place in the Perspective Forum, moderated by Isabel Domingo from Las Provincias.
The event is expected to conclude around 2:30 p.m.
Corridor 360°: Atlantic and Mediterranean is the third event of the Global Mobility Call on the agenda of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. It follows the Rural Mobility Conference at the EU Forum on October 25 and precedes The PEP Partnership on Active Mobility event on October 26.
