Until October 26, conversations on eco-cities, energy transition, transport decarbonization or the role of new technologies, among others, will go on at IFEMA.
Madrid, 25 October 2023 – The second edition of Global Mobility Call has reinforced the role of this event at the only multi-stakeholder hub with a comprehensive approach towards sustainable mobility. Speakers, exhibitors and participants gathering at IFEMA MADRID during the last two days have underscored the importance of pushing a new mobility paradigm which is green, affordable, transversal and feasible now. The event will go on until tomorrow with further round tables and keynotes on eco-cities, energy transition, transport decarbonization and the role of new technologies, among others.
Global Mobility Call has welcomed over 10,000 professionals from around the world to attend a congress programme with more than 470 speakers, and an international exhibition area with over 104 participating organizations showcasing their complete range of services, solutions and products.
The Spanish Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, who officially opened the Global Mobility Call, highlighted the importance of this forum "to provide certainty and protection, and to try to find answers and solutions to the questions raised by citizens in the face of new forms of mobility".
Additionally, some of the keynote speakers on the main stage also urged rolling out the sustainable mobility of the future worldwide. Bertrand Piccard, aeronaut, explorer, psychiatrist and president of Solar Impulse Foundation, insisted on changing the ways of approaching energy necessities, going from quantity of production to efficiency of consumption. Peggy Liu, JUCCCE (Joint US China Collaboration on Clean Energy) defended the role that China can play as a “fundamental infrastructure partner” towards a net-zero footprint mobility.
Amongst the main challenges in moving towards a more integrated, interconnected and secure mobility scheme, round table participants highlighted the provision of data for the user, increased connectivity, the importance of having vehicle circulation data, collaboration between public administrations and companies, data integration with traffic management platforms, progress in regulatory and normative aspects, as well as security and privacy.
Novelties at the expo area
The exhibition area of the Global Mobility Call also hosted the presentation of outstanding novelties like the new car of the 24H of LeMans, powered by hydrogen-electricity, the first Spanish air cab powered by drones; the autonomous bus of CTAG by PwC, a gyrocopter with the Police drone, and the autonomous bus of Karsan.
Additionally, Global Mobility Call held its GMC Awards, the 1st edition of which recognises innovation, sustainability and entrepreneurship in the mobility ecosystem. The prizes awarded were Innowinner to the company Antolin; Personality to Trent Victor, and Sustainable Participation to the stand of the company Arriva.
Highlights of the last day
This edition’s Global Mobility Call will wrap up tomorrow addressing still key topics for sustainable mobility such us “Sustainable mobility in a third industrial revolution”, by Jeremy Rifkin, EU Consel since 2000 (16.00h GMT+2, Main Stage); The Corridor 360º programme, a part of the European mobility agenda under the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, or the official closing of the event with the participation of Madrid Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida.
